Mordu's Champion: The Imperfects

As many predicted early on, The Imperfects were able to overcome the distractions of expectations, chemistry and a late PR incident that turned public sentiment against them, to emerge as Mordu's Champion. This group never tasted defeat and if reports are true never lost a match. Along with the usual prizes, this group of mercenaries now enjoys the fame and recognition that only victory provides. Already they move to the top of the list of many corporations who need results that are guaranteed. Fame and Fortune is theirs to claim as the results of these VR combat simulations is now acknowledged by an entire galaxy of people.

But fame can also hamper progress if allowed, can these elite mercenaries avoid the hangers on that will inevitably appear? Can they sift through the thousands of applications from front-runners that always gravitate to winners? And most importantly can they respond to the pressure that being #1 provides and maintain cohesion? Rumors persist that the alliance that spawned this group may have been a tenuous one and achieved it purpose, sources say that its primarily elements may now devolve back into the original Imperfects roster and Global Conflict.

WINNERS AND LOSERS

WINNER,The Imperfects - Contracts will inevitably begin to pour in as this groups momentum is higher than any other. Their status as THE elite group of mercenaries is solidified. Early reports are that EVE corps are falling over themselves to potentially hire this group. Its their galaxy right now. Can they handle the pressure of being in everyone's crosshairs?

WINNER, Zion Shad -This is an instance where being a high profile name works to his advantage, even if he was initially linked to the Burn New Eden movement. Name the leader of The Imperfects, SI or any of the groups in the tourney's final four. Not so easy is it? Zion Shad's name is brilliantly synonymous with his corporation and is one of the most recognized in the early history of New Eden planetary combat. While some accused his group of being of average skill, their placement all but disproved that. TCDs leader is easily our early choice for the best and most effective recruiter early on.

WINNER, The Seraphim Initiative - Some doubted their status as the foremost threat of The Imperfects being crowned. No Longer. In a game that was reportedly as competitive as we have ever seen, the favorite emerged victorious but it was no cakewalk. With serious fleet support from longtime New Eden corporations, this group is in prime position to achieve Power Broker status.

LOSER, Betamax - Before they lost their elite members and their leader was accused of destroying corp chemistry with immature posturing, our unfinished  power rankings had this group of mercenaries ranked third right after veteran groups like Goonswarm and Pandemic Legion. They were decimated by a mass exodus and its doubtful they will recover and reclaim their status as an elite corporation.

WINNER, ROFL House - Another group who validated themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Early reports painted this group as 'zergish' but their inclusion as one of the final four corps in the tourney all but disproved that. The support they have from veteran space fleets make them all the more dangerous.

LOSER, Global Conflict - To a much lesser degree here but the GC name loses some luster if they separate from The Imperfects. The choice to go with The Imperfects name in the tourney will be debated at length if GC is never able to emerge from the shadow of The Imperfects. Perception is truth and no one remembers the sidekick and ally. Certainly champions to those who know, sometimes being Mark Zuckerberg is better than being Eduardo Saverin.

LOSER, STB - While the early reports that this group are in shambles seem to have no merit, like many of the groups that were not able to participate in Mordu's Tourney they now are on the outside looking in of the perceived "power corporations". This is partly their fault as they made their exclusion more high profile by making it an event in and of itself.

As always, we'll continue to follow these stories as they continue to develop. Have any on or off the record intel regarding any of the participants or the structure of Mordu's Tourney? Be sure to contact us at magww@live.com

    5. SI 100%.
we had to kill SI on numbers the first match.

we had 3 bars of health left on our MCC
we had 10 clones to their 0. that's how close the first match was.

2nd and third were more stable but still more difficult than we've had.
They are going to grow into something fierce for sure. but I hope this means we can now have more corporation matches against them as they were unwilling to play us previously.... nothing to lose now.

    6. SI, ROFL, SyN.

Going into it i had thought SyN our toughest competition, but with the unstable servers and such its not a surprise several corps stumbled.

    7. ROFL was the hardest fight. The first SI match was close due to a MAJOR stumble out of the gate.

    8. ROFL > SI > SyN

The first game vs SI was the closest, but ROFL put up a more consistent fight. The 2nd game vs SI was a redline after we knew exactly how they were going to play, and didn't fuck things up ourselves (first game people were split-pushing points and couldn't take them, took em all as soon as they focused on one at a time near the end). 3rd game they held a point most of the game because we simply didn't need it since we had already won 2 and were on the defensive to secure the win, and were just focusing on keeping our 2 of the 3 objectives.

We couldn't keep dropships in the air vs ROFL, it was insane how quickly they dropped them. They had some really good coordination with vehicles, I think the first match they had 2 sets of rail+missile tank following each other. Dropships had to just be suicide bombers to clear an objective as they were shot down.

SyN put up some good fights too, not that anyone's far behind the others, but that's how I'd rank the 3.

    9. we actually rolled out 3 missile tanks and then my railgun for AV. Every time I'd pop one of your dropships another one would take its place. Running two dropships was a great strategy. Kudos to the imperfects for the victory. I've just gotta work on my turret skills to beable to oneshot dropships like alldin was doing.

  2. people already talking about IMP using ringers. not surprising as they have people from 3C in GC. famous for using them.

  3. SI used a ringer, DJINN Punisher. He has no intention to stay and was only for the tourney because he knew he couldn't win with his own corp. How childish. You gotta love all these scrubs saying that Imperfects used ringers and that they are now going to split back to before. If anybody has been paying attention they will stick together as leaders from both sides have publicly stated that this merger was done before the tourney was even announced and that they are sticking together. Got to love everybody trying to break them up. You guys are so scared. It's pathetic.

    1. We will lose more players to other games coming out than to other corps...

      Fact.

  4. Why even bring STB and Betamax up? Neither of them even participated in the tournament.

Ditch the tabloid journalism dudes, and quit hating on people for no reason.... it's pretty lame.

  7. Imp only had one close game all tourny, thats it just 1 and they still won, as it stands imp has this build by the balls.

  8. my tourny fav is SI, they come form no where and boom in the finals! i mean we all knew imperfects,ROFL, SyN & ZION will make an impact on this game but no one ever heard of IS until now. Also there EVE side corp is pretty old and solid from what i heard so i think they will be force to be reckon in the future.

  9. It was a lot of fun. I still think the best part was getting 15 members together for some fun.
I hope everyone who participated at the very least had a good time.

  10. syn only has 1 dropship pilot so that didnt help in a game where vehicles play such a huge role atm.

  11. I really don't see the point of negativity or hostility towards many clans listed here.
