"One of the sicker aspects of the new tech was that genetic material, ANY GENETIC MATERIAL was valuable. This meant that many of the things formerly considered waste and untouchable (like bodies) were now deemed as assets. What followed was a process where the dead were recycled and collected so that no skills and experiences were lost. We lost something then, even if the profit margin showed gains. You lose part of yourself when the dead are no longer mourned."--Minmatar Researcher

Advert: The Black Friar Firm
Black Friar Firm will be based in Angel Cartel space and have three primary focuses. First, the Firm will be a paramilitary corporation or Merc Corp; in terms of both space faring terms as well as terrestrial terms, and as such will naturally need to live in lawless space. Our pilots will take contracts such as gate camping, pipe line systems and covert deep strikes of high value targets such as Cyno Jammers, High/Low sec warfare and supply line attrition warfare. In the future we will expand this into full on Total War but this will be where we will start. There will be a strong focus on how we actually fight as we believe that blob warfare is counter productive. For Eve pilots expect strong focus on ship capabilities, how they are used and how to exploit those bonuses in a synergistic manner that will make even small fighting units capable engaging fleets larger then them through the use of logi ships, EWAR and general unit cohesion.

One Writer's Take on Dust 514
Recently we read an article by Piki Geek writer Chris Hornyak with a rather pessimistic view of Dust 514. We found some of his opinions to be valid but much of what he writes ushers up images of a bitter gamer who has been burned by one too many developer false promises. Read our thoughts on some of his points below.

Necessary: A Community
Most of our "Necessary" pieces to date have called on the developers to consider certain things, to ponder adding particular elements we think are important. This piece is a little different and is directed at the Player Base. Because you, more than any other component, will be the engine that drives Dust 514 above the stratosphere or into the ground. If you're reading this, you will quite possibly be one of the potentially millions of players who will reside in New Eden and you'll also decide if its a place you'll remain.

The Importance of videos/game footage in pre-launch marketing
For a game meant to be released this year, Dust 514 has only had two trailers to win over audiences, and no dev diaries to show off gameplay while explaining the complexities of the game. The closest thing to dev diaries released are the dev blogs. Though the dev blogs are greatly appreciated by those who faithfully follow the game, but just texts and concept art isn't enough to get major media attention on the top video game sites. To show the importance of this kind of media attention, lets compare Dust 514 with another upcoming shooter (which also happens to be scifi and dealing with corporate warfare): Syndicate.

Templar One Released!
The first of hopefully many more to come official Dust 514 fiction has finally been released. Tony Gonzalez's highly-anticipated piece of official Dust history is in the open at last. It details how Dust and EVE history collide and gives us the history that reveals how the first clones of New Eden were born.
Courtesy of our speed-reading friends, its apparently a great read. Interested in ordering it? Do so HERE. Like dust fiction? Give our resident fiction writer's "Copy of a Psycho" series a try HERE.

Copy of a Psycho: Part 4 - SURVIVOR, WITNESS, & PREY
I was expecting more ice seeing how this is suppose to be a ice planet, but the Razdalek facilities are located near the equator where its pretty temperate. Our squad deployed, and begun a long journey to sneak all the way around, and attack the enemy installations from which they deploy. We'd been walking for maybe a kilometer, I know that's an exaggeration, but it feels like we have been.

The Great Balancing Act
Few things warm our hearts like a balanced game. Reading the latest Dev Blog regarding "Dropsuits" was especially pleasing because it hinted at a world where the traditional FPS, one-man-army, super-soldier doesn't exist.

Icarus Group Stock Surges
"The Robot is going to lose. Not by much, have you. But when the final score is tallied, and the dust of war has settled, men of flesh and blood are going to beat the damn metal monster."--Adam Smith
GP- With what are many are calling the most significant advance in science in history, the developers of what is being referred to as Nanotech Science have seen a leap in stock that is unparalleled. An unknown just a few months ago, The Icarus Group made the advances necessary to take cell-sized machines from postulations, theory and the pages of science fiction novels to scientific reality.
Scientists once theorized about the idea of manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Now researchers employed by The Icarus Group are delving in real science based on devices capable of molecular self-assembly, developing new materials with dimensions on the nanoscale to investigating whether they can can even directly control matter on the atomic scale. This leap in technology may finally make available to us the application of nanorobots in medicine, nanomanufacturing devices for future commercial applications, and nanosystems for production. Its truly one of the most significant leaps in the history of science.
