Mordu's Tourney: Round 1 Roundup

Many misconceptions were dispelled this weekend regarding the perceptions in New Eden. When the virtual dust cleared only the strong survived. It seems many of us underestimated certain groups and overestimated a myriad of others. While some are still baffled by the absence of groups like STB, Tritan Industries and Betamax in the competition. While one can hardly blame CONCORD for limiting the contest to 16 contestants, some felt differently. We reached out to Quickgloves of STB who took the opportunity to bash the decision to include two ROFL groups into the tourney. "CONCORD did not properly screen the event. This tournament was a flop. Some corps couldnt even field the full 16 needed. ROFL House had to play its own team KEQ Cmon man really how do u lose that match !! LOL ... My comment to ROFL is this DUMB MOVE NOT ONLY DO U LOOK BAD ONCE WHEN U GET STEAM ROLLED BY REAL CORPS BUT U GET TO LOOK BAD TWICE GJ!! YOU ARE SO SMART! To the guys like Betamax and Tritan that got left out its really a shame."

A source inside Tritan Industries had this to say: "Hey, I personally think there are some shenanigans involving the teams chosen for the upcoming Dust tourny.  Do you guys recall if CONCORD EVER said anything about selecting teams from separate regions? Because if so, then I know that Tritan had already submitted by then, and the “official rules” said first 16 teams, nothing about first 8 from each region." STB's and TI's frustration notwithstanding, the early indications are that the following undefeated corps are in the best position to win  the tourney.

1. The Imperfects - No surprise here. Despite not being top five in War Points, the tourney favorite won going away in all of their matches and wasn't even playing at full strength. Sources confirmed that the bravado filled Protoman was not logged into the VR Trainer being used for scoring for any of their scheduled matches. They already have the mental edge of teams publicly lamenting going against them. Still the team to beat.

2. The Seraphim Initiative - Here again, this group is right where we predicted. Still our choice to meet The Imperfects in the championship round and our sleeper choice to win it all should the favorite stumble.

3. Zion TCD - Many accused them of weak competition after beating a partial squad of OTB, but a unit can only beat the opposition put in front of them. Finished the first round 3-0 easily.

4. ROFL House - A bit of a surprise here as many scouting reports accused this group of being 'zergs'. They dominated early and often but like Zion TCD, were also accused of beating weak competition. There also seems to be a bit of a controversy surrounding their alliance getting two groups into the tourney while many groups did not get any. Was it to their benefit that they were able to have a match against their allies at KEQ?

Although they did lose a match to SI, many felt WTF Beta is still among the best teams in the tourney. Next weekend promises to feature much better matchups as most of the cannon fodder and weaker opponents have been eliminated. We are certainly looking forward to it.

    1. The Southern Legion grp is strong (almost beat Zion)... you clearly dont know your clans. In fact all those clans could at least field numbers, yet funny enough you dont even mention the clans who couldnt field at all.

    2. The Southern Legion is some of the best Players AUS has to offer. They fielded great vehicle support and nearly clone depleted us (13 clones remained at MCC pop). I believe that if WTF had a hard time beating SI Dropships and HAVs, then they will lose again to SL.

  4. I think the Imperfects had one of the lowest war points is because they redline every team from the start of the match. You get war points for kills and hacking. Only conclusion you can make is that they redline the oppossing team from the start because once a team is redline, it's harder to get kills and war points.

    2. Looks like it wasn't that easy! More WP = more work in order to keep/maintain redline. Get good scrub! WTF, Zion, and southern legion better than you bunch of scrub vehicle whores. Once your garbage as fit vehicles get raped you will get raped on the ground.

    3. I think the WP has more to do with the squad leaders and assists. They add in quite a bit of WP as well.

  7. Wow, someone's mad that they didn't get into the tourney. So what if KEQ and ROFL got into the tourney. It's not like the other one rolled over for them. They took it as a serious match. So Quickgloves just needs to go back to his non tournament playing corp and learn proper grammar.

  10. I think the selection process just depended on leaders being quick to respond and get their applications in there in time. I don't know if they ever mentioned the region issue, but it does make sense really for CCP to have done that.

I really doubt this conspiracy talk. I must say though it makes for great reading. All this QQ over a tournament, and a beta tournament at that.

  14. Quickgloves, you behave like a little girl. You QQing 10 times more than all other corps that didn't make it into the tournament. You clearly overrate yourself and STB. I don't care for all the shit you bring into every place. It's more than enough!

If CCP decides to organize a QQ tournament, you will get a slot and win, that's for sure!
