Which Corp will be crowned Mordu's Champion?

Old addages often tell us that even in the worst of circumstances the cream will rise to the top. In the case of the Muryia Mordu sponsored Corp Wargames, this may prove to be the truth. Yesterday his legion announced that the training area countless corporations are currently using for combat exercises, will hold a series of graded VR battle simulations where months of training will finally be put to the test. Before the announcement was an hour old veteran New Eden corps were already wagering millions of credits on who the winner would be. Next, more than twenty of them donated currency and other assets to an escrow that would be held for the winner. A little over twelve hours ago it was announced that the amount garnered for the winner of the event had grown to 250 million credits, a kings ransom.

Beyond the huge sum of money, there is also the issue of the purest form of legitimacy and recognition that winning will bring. With countless wealthy corporations sure to be watching the exercise, the victor will be well on the path to fame and fortune after being crowned the Grand Champion. At press time the total purse was over 350 million credits, as even the third and fourth place winners will walk away 50 million credits richer.

Many combat analysts have begun speculating on which group will win the prize and our recent Corp Power Rankings will certainly be put to the test. The corps mentioned are among the usual suspects: Zion TCD, The Seraphim Initiative, WTF, Global Conflict, STB, SyN, Shadow Company, Tritan Industries, despite their recent purge, the corporation formerly known as Betamax [now The Imperfects] may field enough soldiers to enter the competition as well, so the list goes on and on. We recently learned that one well known information broker has wagered 100 millon credits on Zion TCD. Could some little-known group rise from obscurity to take the richest prize in the early history of ground combat? No one can say for sure, but in the coming weeks we are sure to get a good look at what the galaxy's best planetary strike force looks like.
