The Fall of Betamax

 One of the top corps in the leaderboards of The DUST 514 known as Betamax is almost no more. This has just been revealed in a recent post on the DUST 514 closed Beta forums. A member of TCD asked the question Betamax? In the title of his post and here are the responses.




4447 (TCD): Looking on the leader broad and BETAMAX has lost some players, their top scorers what has happened?

Noc Tempre (Betamax Rep): There is a rebranding going on. Betamax as a Sony Trademark ran into hurdles with sponsorship. People are moving in waves due to various timers, real life schedules, and the like.

4447(TCD): No more betamax then?

Noc Tempre (Betamax Rep): It will continue if those who remain wish to take up the mantle as a casual training corp, although the majority of members are simply moving. Betamax has no potential as a sponsored team, therefore our talented members are simply desiring a new identity to keep our options open. A rose by any other name will still give you a nasty prick.

4447(TCD): shame, so understanding this correctly your all joining under different corp name? and all your big players will be joining to?

Quickgloves(CEO STB): hey to all who left betamax i guess ill b the first jerk to try an post its like the sankuski case.. lol.. unless u guys are just creating a new corp then gl otherwise STB always needs more guys!

Icy Tiger(Betamax): wait.... what's going on?

Nickles Jester(Betamax Mem): According to the head honchos we are restructuring, we haven't lost anyone yet tho in game some players are in an alternate corp. I have been assured that everything will be worked out once the restructuring is finished and all the new members are properly assessed. Thank you for your concern and no worries everyone's favorite or close to favorite rival isn't going anywhere for awhile. :)

Nameless514(Dusters Blog): So it seems that it was failed to inform the reg member base of Betamax and all it cares about is the Top 10 killers? Why were they left in the dark?

The Dark Cloud (Betamax Member): dont like what i read here and i dont like it even more that ive got the news about it from a guy outside from betamax. Dont know how im gonna handle this situation now. I allready got a good offer from a different corp.

Nickles Jester(Betamax Member): Sorry you had to find out this way cloud. However there has been some talk about this on the Betamax website/forums. There have been discussions about assessments and the Betamax steamroller squad. I'm sure there has been much more discussion in the IRC channel which unfortunately I haven't seen/been part of because I have yet to redownload and join the IRC channel. There has also been talk about it in game where I got the bulk of information from. I'm sorry you missed this information but it's been out there in some form for some time. If you seriously want to leave because of this minor hiccup then please by all means take the offer, we'll miss ya if ya go, and I hope you show them more loyalty than you're showing us. I'm sorry if I am coming off as rude I don't mean to be, I just hope you understand just how much is going on and just how much work and organizing it's taking to make BetaMax a well oiled machine.

I also hope you understand this is a crucial time for BetaMax, what the leaders need is time, patience, understanding, and most importantly loyalty. If you can't give that then I don't understand how you or anyone with your attitude about this no matter how understandable it may be will make the cut. BetaMax has been, is, and will be one of the best corps in the game because it's thoughtful, methodical, precise, and experienced leadership. You can either try to be part of this and give them your all, or you can walk away when they need you the most. Choice is yours, I've made mine and it was an easy one. There are allot of great and noble Corps out there Zion TCD being one of them but at the end of the day I put my money on BetaMax, that's why I'm giving them my time, my patience, my understanding, and most importantly my loyalty.

Jenza of Betamax Below

 It appears that Betamax's(as of 10/10 was around 130 members in game) Chair Lady Jenza has yet to inform the entire member base of the corp about the great move to a new identity. Statements of loyalty are put out those who were just left to get the news through public means, but is it right for the Corp to demand loyalty from its members and point a finger at them for not figuring it out on their own when they were left in the dark? Not even a simple Corp mail to tell them the plan was given. Some would see this as a flaw in leadership skills, but others speculate that Betamax's main focus is in sponsored gaming and on their Steamroller crew (Their top killers) over the regular member base. The offical answer to keeping everyone in the dark is due to Spy's. But it looks as though STB has hopped in to offer a home to the orphaned players and it seem TCD members are extending a helping hand if it is needed. But at the end of the day the name Betamax has been broken, but the Corp remains the same. 

This has now put Zion TCD at the top in Kills and Warpoint leaderboards out of all the player made corps at this time and widening the growing target on the Corps back.
