Wayward Mercs?

Multiple sources have recently reported on a rash of incidents where mercenaries have been caught scamming their employers for ISK. Hours ago, news broke of a recorded incident where a member of the mercenary corp known as The Imperfects was recorded refusing to deploy for an paid operation and later collecting currency for services rendered. You can see the video here.

The blowback from this incident is expected to be enormous as the guilty party, identified as Kain Spero is a well known mercenary with an upcoming well publicized mercenary event that could suffer attendance as a result. Even more pressing, are unconfirmed reports that The Imperfects are affiliated with one of New Eden's largest alliances, who could be paying mercs for this sort of cowardly behavior in the future. We reached out to alliance spokesmen and the alliance leader but had no received a comment as of press time. Another member of the corp went on record receiving record ISK rewards recently, is this how it was done?

CONCORD will no doubt be investigating thefts of services like these in the future. We're told that the future penalties for behavior like this could be far reaching and excessive. Have any info on this story you'd like to share on the record or anonymously? Contact GNN at magww@live.com

    2. relax, one of our writers did this as a parody piece to bring light and some humor to a relevant issue. we are sure CCP will address it.

    3. Definitely different. LAV Boosting gave you ridiculously high amounts of SP rewards and free kills from the OB.

All you get from this is the bare minimum ISK and SP. Anyone who actually picks up a gun gets more SP and ISK than someone AFK in the MCC.

  7. You couldn't even spell his name right. also, who give a fuck about farming the 1.5 hrs per day you need to hit the daily cap. now we have a weekly cap you should see ppl playing properly when they have the time rather than clocking in every day.

  8. Honestly? No one cares if people AFK in the MCC in a pub match. The only people that scream and shout about this are the same people who accuse anyone who kills them of cheating and using aimbots.

Tons of people do this when they don't have time to actually play, but don't want to fall behind. (That's all caps really do, is prevent people who miss time from ever being able to catch up)

Hell, I do it when I'm working on spreadsheets or editing an episode of Cast514, or doing work IRL.

This article is hardly news, nor will there be any 'fallout' from this. Since this writer was kind enough to tell us who he is via video, please revoke his writing privileges until he learns to propaganda better.

    4. @Sarah : I'll rephrase. No one with half a brain cares. You earn way less SP/ISK match doing this. Pub matches affect absolutely nothing whatsoever longterm. The only reason to play them is for SP gain and to pad your Kills and/or death stats. All the matches that 'matter' are corp matches that affect FW in Eve. If people were AFK'ing in those, it'd be a bigger deal and their corp would deal with them.

@Chris : It's not okay because I'm on Cast514. Who I am has no bearing on this. It's okay because it's not a problem in the slightest, because a person is doing nothing in a match that means nothing....

    5. Key word = EARN
You said it yourself... You earn ISK and SP for doing nothing.

    6. so the fact the game gives us passive sp is not enough. u gotta ride the clock in pub matches too? ridiculous.

  10. I'm not sure why people really care.

    ReplyDelete
  11. People care because it would of been an even closer game with him involved and helping our team. I also hate when people do this because when I am playing the game, I am playing to win the match. Having afk people on either side hurts the match.

  12. It can be annoying to those in the match and losing.

That said there are sometimes real life issues that come up. It is possible he had to go AFK for a while, and didn't want to back out of the match. Maybe he had gone into the match while AFK, and his squad left.

If it is done regularly, it will likely reflect poorly in ones stats. I am not trying to defend him, just point out an possible reason.

  13. rl issues come up at times but imagine if everyone did this? now we have wars where no one is fighting. this and redline sniping need 2 die.

  14. agree here. matches where everyone sits in the MCC to ride the free SP train and all matches end at 0-0? not what CCP envisioned i guarantee u that.
