Take-a-Merc-to-Work Event

A funny thing happened this week, we got a good taste of how truly powerful Twitter can be. In our previous piece, we pondered about things that would help make Open Beta a complete success. One of the things we mentioned was to make a sincere effort to make sure gaming journalists have a good experience with Dust 514. Their positive reviews of the game could make all the difference. The force of the RETWEET is powerful it seems, and no less than four publications contacted us asking to be involved. Our 'suggestion' had taken on a life of its own...we were all: *Gulp*.


We're just a tiny little blog in a obscure corner of the internet, but what we think could be effective is an organized effort to group with media members to show them what Dust has to offer, how the game is meant to be played and to enhance their experience as well. The functionality is already setup with password protected chat rooms, voice coms and even unique colored dropsuits [one of our writers suggested the pink Quafe dropsuits]While CCP could organize an event like this better than anyone else, they are certainly knee deep in development right now and might not be able to spare the manpower. What we'd like to do now is appeal to the community to make this a reality. Everyone from the wonderful people at Dust University, Evenews24 and TheMittaniDotCom and prominent community members like Heinrich Jagerblitzen, Grideris, Nova Knife, Zion Shad, Jenza, Mitauchi, Cazaderon, Ruc Doc, Virgin Detroyer7, Cookie Stein, Sake Monster and corps like The Imperfects, SI, Zion TCD, Betamax, ROFL, Tritan Industries, WTF and others to lend a hand on the weekends of 1.25, 2.1 and 2.8 [the three weekends after Open Beta] and help facilitate the event by joining the Open Beta chatroom with password Dust 514.

Lastly, it would be really cool if CCP would allow our wonderful journalist friends the temporary use of Quafe dropsuits for the event. Perhaps gaming writers could verify they're participating by email and then you could award them those dropsuits on their Dust accounts [we arent sure how it would work on the technical side] CCP, you are easily the most gamer focused devs we have ever had the pleasure of coming in contact with, and in this instance perhaps the community can show our appreciation by making sure the people who'll be reviewing this game have a great time playing.

Let's also do our part to help the games marketing efforts by retweeting the upcoming Dust 514 Open Beta Trailer enough to make it trend worldwide! Retweet this too!
