Perhaps there were words spoken from the bliss of alcohol, but news out of Mordu's Trials where countless corporations are currently training, seems to imply that several newer corporations have it out for the Goonswarm.

The basic premise by a group of elite mercs seems to imply that the Goons dominate with scores of below average soldiers and that somehow their victories mean less because they do so. While this line of thinking lacks a great deal of logic, they also seemed to imply that other large Alliances like these could in no way compete with them and that even hiring assassins to murder them would fail. Mercenaries like Protoman, Pdiggy22, Onslaught, Wicked, Phantom Humperdink and Mudmaster ordered drink after drink while ridiculing the goons for the better part of 2 hours.
One corp representative had this to say: "Any respect these Mercs had is now gone. Due to their love of alcohol and the usual immature boasting (it makes them look like kids) but they have no clue, and as I type this trust me several powerful corps are plotting against them."
While this line of thinking reminds some of the Spartans at the battle of Thermopylae, it begs an answer: Are these soldiers elite enough to back up their threats? Have they accounted for the massive fleets these groups can bring to bear? Only time will tell.
We reached out to the Goonswarm leader but The Mittani had no response as of press time.
Update: The Mittani's later response was: "I think some Mercs types are used to chatter mattering more than bottom-line victory; the game is not played that way. i.e. in New Eden you can whine about a "bad rep" all you want, but Sov is Sov, and lasting consequences are inarguable."

The Spartans did not want the Persians to invade nor did the Persians want to fight the Spartans in the first place the Persians had a feud with the Athenians.
